Bookwitch

By the way, has anyone noticed my other blog? I sometimes link to Bookwitch from there, but I rarely mention the Simply Books blog here. I felt some time ago that it was a shame that the shop had so many good events with big names, and once they were over they were over, with no mention anywhere. So these days I try to cover most of their events, and write a little something afterwards. You can see what we’ve been up to on www.simplybooks.info and click on blog.

I sometimes take a holiday, like the other week, and I pray they will not have booked someone in for those dates. (I’d like to hear: “No Ms Rowling, Wednesday is not so good as our blogger will be away…”) Dream on. As luck would have it, they invited Adele Geras round for half term. They hadn’t asked her since the same time last year, when, surprise surprise, I was also unavailable. I love Adele; how can they keep doing this to me? (To be fair, they apologised.)

This time I decided to be mature about it, and only worried about the gap in their events blog. Then I had a brainwave. There would be someone present who’s good at writing. Adele herself. So I asked her if she’d write something, and the lovely lady provided a complete blog entry.

Never thought the day would come when I could commission work from real writers. Without paying. Thanks again, Adele. (And one of these days I’ll work out how to put the correct accent on your name, too.)
